Join our Industrial team, where innovation is cultivated in an environment of excellence within the industrial sector! Our offices serve as a professional collaborative environment for engineers and designers, providing an atmosphere that values our employees and embraces multiple “Best Places to Work” awards. As industrial facility professionals, we set trends, navigate diverse challenges, and reward ambitious employees. Experience the excitement of contributing to cutting-edge projects such as ethanol plant improvements, renewable natural gas plant greenfield designs, and ag-industrial process facility designs, among others. With a commitment to a flexible yet disciplined work culture, our close-knit camaraderie continually provides our community of accomplished professionals the keys to a successful career!

This is a facilities and process design consulting role focused on developing comprehensive engineering packages (FEED through IFC), technical specifications, and drawing sets. You will collaborate closely with internal process, mechanical, piping, and electrical disciplines, as well as clients, equipment vendors, and construction contractors. (Note: This is an engineering design and consulting role; it does not involve PLC ladder logic programming, HMI screen development, or control panel assembly).

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop complete I&C engineering deliverable packages from preliminary design (FEED) through Issued for Construction (IFC).
  • Coordinate closely with Process Engineering to develop, review, and markup P&IDs, ensuring proper instrumentation tagging and control strategies (ISA-5.1).
  • Generate instrument indexes, I/O lists, and detailed instrument specification data sheets (ISA format).
  • Select and specify process inline instrumentation, control valves, automated on/off valves, and safety devices for hazardous and demanding industrial environments.
  • Design control system architecture diagrams, network topologies (copper, fiber, industrial wireless), and control room/rack layouts.
  • Author Control System Philosophies, Control Narratives, and Functional Requirement Specifications (FRS) for third-party system integrators and panel builders.
  • Produce and oversee the drafting of control panel layouts, wiring/interconnection diagrams, loop sheets, conduit/cable schedules, and installation details.
  • Ensure designs adhere to applicable codes, including NFPA 70 (NEC Articles 500–505 for hazardous locations) and relevant ISA/IEEE standards.
  • Support the bidding and procurement process, respond to contractor RFIs, review vendor shop drawings/submittals, and conduct occasional site visits for field observation and punch listing.
