Terms of use

Draft pending legal review. This page is a plain-language draft. Values in {{double braces}} are filled in before alder takes payments.

These terms are an agreement between you and {{legal_entity_name}}, {{registered_address}} (`$alder`, "we"), for the alder website and service. By using alder you accept them. If you don't agree, please don't use alder.

1. What alder is

  • alder is a job search tool for software engineers. It collects job listings that employers publish on their own public job boards (applicant tracking systems such as Greenhouse, Lever and Ashby) and adds observations: when a listing was first seen, last verified, reposted or taken down, and whether the location text suggests you can be hired from India.
  • Listings belong to the employers. We don't verify that a role is real, open, or right for you, and we don't speak for any employer. Every role links to the employer's own page; always check the details there.
  • Labels such as "reposted 2×" or "open 94 days" are observations from our snapshots, not judgements about an employer.
  • alder never applies to jobs for you. There is no auto-apply. You decide whether and how to apply, on the employer's site.

2. AI-generated drafts

  • Some features (Apply Kits, cover letters, answers to application questions, outreach messages, resume suggestions, search summaries) are drafted by AI models from your profile, your resume and the job description.
  • Drafts can be wrong or incomplete even though we check them against your sources. You must review and edit every draft before you use it. You are responsible for what you send to an employer or anyone else.
  • Never submit a draft that claims experience, skills, qualifications or work authorisation you don't have.
  • alder does not promise interviews, offers, visa sponsorship or any hiring outcome.

3. Your account and your content

  • You can use alder without an account. Signing in with an email code lets your data follow you across devices. Keep access to your email secure; anyone who can read it can sign in as you.
  • You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or buy a pass.
  • Your resume, profile and notes stay yours. You give us permission to store and process them only to run alder for you, as described in the privacy notice.
  • Only upload a resume or profile that is yours, or that you have the right to use.

4. Public resume pages

If you choose to publish a public resume page, anyone with the link can see what you publish, and search engines may index it unless you turn indexing off. You can unpublish it at any time. You are responsible for its content, and you must follow the content policy below.

5. Content policy

Don't use alder (including public pages and anything you paste) to:

  • publish someone else's personal data, or impersonate any person or company;
  • post content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, or that infringes someone's rights;
  • post false claims about employers or people, or spam, malware or misleading links;
  • scrape alder in bulk, get around rate limits or daily limits, probe its security, or resell access.

We may remove content, unpublish pages, limit features or close accounts that break these rules.

6. Reporting abuse

Every public resume page has a "Report" link. You can also write to hello@{{domain}} with the page link and what's wrong. Employers who want a listing corrected can write to the same address. We aim to respond within a few working days, and sooner for anything harmful.

7. Paid passes

  • The founding sprint pass is a one-time purchase that raises your daily limits for 30 days from the moment it starts. It does not renew and you are never charged again unless you buy another pass.
  • If you buy a pass while one is active, the new one starts when the current one ends.
  • Payments are processed by Dodo Payments, which acts as the merchant of record for the sale and issues your invoice. Dodo's own terms apply to the payment itself. We never see or store your card or UPI details.
  • Prices are in Indian rupees. Taxes, where they apply, are shown at checkout.
  • You can get a full refund within 7 days of paying; see the refund policy. When a refund is processed the pass ends.
  • Daily limits are fair-use limits that keep the service affordable for everyone. We may adjust them, but never below what the pricing page promised for a pass you have already bought.
  • If you were given a pass code, it can be used once, by one account, and is not exchangeable for cash.

8. Availability and changes

alder is provided "as is". We work to keep it accurate and available but can't guarantee that listings are complete, current or error-free, or that the service will never be interrupted. We may change or discontinue features. If we discontinue paid features while your pass is active, we will refund the unused days.

9. Liability

To the extent the law allows, alder is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions you make based on listings, labels or drafts. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under Indian consumer protection law that cannot be excluded.

10. Ending

You can stop using alder and delete all your data at any time from your profile page. We may suspend access for serious or repeated breaches of these terms.

11. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts at {{city}} have jurisdiction, subject to any consumer forum you are entitled to approach. Please write to hello@{{domain}} first; most problems can be fixed quickly.

12. Changes to these terms

We will post changes on this page with a new date. For material changes we will also tell signed-in users by email or in the app before they take effect.
