Director of Brand & Communications
Accountabilities
As the owner of brand strategy and communications, you will define how both brands are perceived while developing initiatives that increase awareness, customer loyalty, and measurable business impact. Your main responsibilities will include:
Brand Strategy and Identity: Own the brand story, positioning, tone of voice, guidelines, and creative asset libraries for both brands while ensuring they remain distinct and consistent across all customer touchpoints.
Brand Consistency: Review website content, packaging, email campaigns, advertising, and other customer-facing materials, conducting quarterly brand audits to maintain quality and consistency.
Cause Marketing and Partnerships: Develop a recognizable giving-back program in collaboration with animal shelters and rescue organizations, establish national and local partnerships, organize adoption events and donation initiatives, and measure their impact.
Brand Activations and Events: Build and manage an annual brand-moment calendar covering key occasions, seasonal campaigns, sponsorships, pop-ups, and original activations.
End-to-End Campaign Management: Lead each brand initiative from concept to execution, coordinating partners, budgets, websites, email campaigns, social media, creators, and public relations.
Public Relations and Earned Media: Develop media outreach strategies, pitch brand initiatives to journalists and podcasts, manage PR agencies when applicable, secure media coverage, reviews, gift-guide placements, and industry awards.
Community Engagement: Build a highly engaged customer community, develop super-fan initiatives, and transform customer reviews, photographs, and stories into compelling brand content.
Brand Reporting and Performance: Monitor brand health through branded search volume, direct traffic, customer acquisition sources, earned media coverage, and other relevant indicators.
Budget and Operational Management: Own the brand budget across events, donations, public relations, and sponsorships, establish priorities with the founder, and develop standard operating procedures to support scalable execution.
Continuous Improvement: Evaluate campaign performance regularly, identify opportunities to improve results, and proactively introduce new partnership and brand-building ideas.
