ON.energy is setting the standard for large load interconnection. ON’s patented AI UPS™ is a medium-voltage UPS that serves as a firewall, protecting the data center from the grid, and the grid from the data center. With multiple gigawatts currently under construction, we are enabling grid-safe data centers.

The Project Finance Specialist/Chief of Staff to the CIO is a deal-first role. You will work directly with ON.energy's Chief Investment Officer, who owns capital formation and deployment for the company: topco equity and debt, project finance, tax equity and credit transfers, and the financing structures behind our AI UPS-as-a-Service offering for neocloud and hyperscale customers.

Roughly 70% of your time is deal execution: building models, running financing processes, and negotiating alongside the CIO with a specific focus on Project Finance of ON.energy’s proprietary AI.UPS technology. The other 30% is running the Office of the CIO: setting priorities, preparing board and investor materials, and driving follow-through across Finance, Legal, Commercial, and Engineering.

This is a seat at the center of how ON.energy funds a multi-gigawatt build-out. You will see every major capital decision the company makes, and you will be expected to help shape them.

Location and Travel

  • Location: Miami, Florida. New York will be considered, and remote may be considered for an exceptional candidate.
  • Travel: Approximately 25%, including project sites in Texas, investor and lender meetings in New York, and customer meetings with hyperscale and neocloud partners.

What You'll Do

  • Support the CIO across all capital raise activity (equity, venture debt, credit facilities, structured capital): investor targeting, data rooms, models, materials, and diligence management.
  • Specific focus on structuring and executing project-level financings for AI UPS assets in ERCOT and other U.S. markets, including construction, term, and back-leverage facilities.
  • Design and finance AI UPS-as-a-Service: build the contract and capital structures (leases, energy-as-a-service, SPVs, asset-backed facilities) that let neocloud and hyperscale customers procure our systems off balance sheet.
  • Monetize tax credits, including §48E ITC, domestic content and energy community adders, §6418 transferability, and tax equity, working with the Tax team and outside advisors.
  • Own financial models built together with our analytics team for project lenders, project returns, and as-a-service pricing. Pressure-test assumptions on cost of capital, counterparty credit, and residual value.
  • Negotiate term sheets, credit agreements, and customer contracts alongside the CIO, Legal, and outside counsel.
  • Build and maintain relationships with banks, infrastructure funds, private credit, tax credit buyers, and the capital and infrastructure teams at hyperscalers and neoclouds.
  • Run the CIO's operating cadence: priorities, pipeline tracking, and weekly deal reviews.
  • Prepare board, investment committee, and investor update materials.
  • Act as the CIO's proxy in cross-functional work with Finance, Legal, Commercial, and Engineering to keep deals moving.
  • Track capital markets, digital infrastructure financing trends, and tax credit policy, and turn them into concrete recommendations.
  • Take on special projects as the CIO's mandate evolves, including strategic partnerships and M&A.

What You Bring

Requirements

  • 4–7 years of experience in infrastructure, energy, or data center financing, from private equity, investment banking, infrastructure or venture capital, project finance, or a digital infrastructure developer or operator.
  • Hands-on execution of closed transactions: capital raises, project financings, or structured credit. You have built the model and sat at the negotiating table.
  • Expert financial modeling: project finance, levered returns, debt sizing, and waterfall structures.
  • Working knowledge of energy tax credits (§48E, §6418 transferability, tax equity) and how they shape capital structure.
  • Understanding of data center and digital infrastructure economics, including colocation, powered shell, and lease structures.
