Your Mission
We are looking for an EMI/EMC, HIRF & Lightning Engineer (all genders) to join our Central Engineering team and support electromagnetic compatibility and electromagnetic environmental effects activities for the Microliner aircraft.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day engineering activities related to EMI/EMC, High-Intensity Radiated Fields (HIRF), and lightning protection throughout the aircraft development lifecycle, from requirements and architecture support through analysis, design integration, testing, verification, and certification. Working closely with colleagues from Systems, Propulsion, Airframe, Safety, Verification and Validation, and Certification, you will ensure that electromagnetic environmental effects are appropriately addressed at aircraft, system, equipment, and installation level.
As part of Central Engineering, you will act as an internal focal point for EMI/EMC, HIRF, and lightning engineering. Working within the established technical approach and with guidance from senior subject-matter expertise, you will independently drive engineering activities within your area, coordinate across disciplines and suppliers, resolve technical issues, and develop substantiated recommendations for higher-level technical decisions.
Your Day-to-Day
Develop and maintain aircraft-level EMI/EMC, HIRF, and lightning requirements within the established technical framework, supporting their decomposition, allocation, and verification across aircraft systems, equipment, installations, and structures.
Perform and coordinate EMI/EMC, HIRF, and lightning assessments, including interference sources, coupling paths, equipment susceptibility, installation effects, and direct and indirect lightning effects.
Develop, assess, and support the implementation of protection and mitigation measures, including shielding, grounding and bonding, filtering, cable routing and separation, equipment installation, and structural protection provisions.
Support the maturation of the aircraft EMI/EMC, HIRF, and lightning protection approach, evaluating technical solutions, identifying risks and trade-offs, and developing substantiated recommendations for higher-level technical decisions.
Define and coordinate verification and qualification activities within the assigned scope, including analysis, inspection, equipment qualification, ground and aircraft testing, and testing performed by external laboratories.
Independently investigate and resolve electromagnetic interference and compatibility issues during equipment development, system integration, and testing, involving senior technical expertise where significant architectural or programme-level decisions are required.
Support safety, certification, and compliance activities, including preparation and review of assessments, qualification evidence, verification results, and compliance documentation in accordance with applicable standards.
Act as an internal technical focal point for EMI/EMC, HIRF, and lightning topics, coordinating with engineering teams, suppliers, test laboratories, and technical specialists, while contributing to the continuous improvement of related engineering methods and processes.
Your Profile
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a comparable technical discipline, with a minimum of 4 years of professional experience in EMI/EMC, HIRF, lightning protection, or related electromagnetic environmental effects.
Practical experience in EMI/EMC engineering, including emissions and susceptibility/immunity, grounding and bonding, shielding, filtering, cable installation, and electromagnetic coupling, combined with experience in HIRF and/or lightning protection.
Working knowledge of relevant aerospace standards and guidance, such as RTCA DO-160 / EUROCAE ED-14 and the SAE ARP541x series, with experience supporting related analysis, testing, or equipment qualification.
Good understanding of aircraft electrical and electronic systems and their integration; experience with high-voltage architectures, electric propulsion, power electronics, or composite aircraft structures is a strong plus.
