About Radiant

Radiant is an El Segundo, CA-based company building the world's only mass-produced, transportable nuclear microreactors. The U.S. grid is under growing strain, with power demand accelerating, driving higher utility costs, rising carbon emissions, and interconnection backlogs. Radiant has a solution, transportable, on-site power. Our first reactor, Kaleidos, is 1 megawatt: small enough to be factory-built, transported by land, sea, or air, and deployed wherever power is needed. 1 MW can power 1000 homes for five years. Ship it back and we refuel for a 20 year operating life. We made energy a product that can be used for critical infrastructure like military bases, data centers, hospitals, and remote sites, as well as the commercial main street businesses that keep America running. Founded in 2020, Radiant is under contract to deliver power to the U.S. Army, Navy and Air Force and has signed pre-order agreements with Equinix, with deployments beginning in 2028.

About the Role

Radiant is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer focused on PCB development, mixed-signal design, high-speed interfaces, power distribution, and signal integrity, supporting the data acquisition, signal conditioning, data sampling, and reactor control operations behind Kaleidos, our commercial microreactor targeted for customer deployment in 2028. This is an opportunity to join a world-class micro-nuclear reactor company and develop critical electrical hardware for terrestrial reactor control systems, with a long-term path toward space reactor applications. You’ll join a talented, innovative electronics team and own the design, development, and delivery of mission-critical PCBs.

Responsibilities and Duties

Own the PCB design that controls a micro nuclear reactor.

Design multilayer mixed-signal PCBAs for reactor control and instrumentation that operate in harsh environments, terrestrial today, with space applications ahead.

Design low-noise analog front-end circuits and integrate them with ADC and digital subsystems.

Own schematic capture, component selection, performance analysis, placement, layout, fabrication, and assembly.

Design boards that may include high-speed communication, sensor interfaces, data acquisition paths, and communication buses, focusing on build quality, signal integrity, power integrity, grounding, and EMI/EMC mitigation to operate seamlessly in a nuclear reactor.

Bring up, debug, and validate hardware through board-level testing, instrumentation, and root-cause analysis.

Write and execute the validation and qualification plans that prove performance, reliability, and environmental margin, and present them in design reviews.

Work directly with firmware, FPGA, DSP, and software engineers at the hardware-software boundary.

Required Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

5+ years designing custom PCBs, including multilayer and mixed-signal boards.

Prior experience delivering hardware you designed, from schematic capture through layout, assembly, bring-up, and qualification into production or field deployment.

Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools, specifically Altium.

Hands-on experience with board bring-up, debugging, and lab instrumentation (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, VNAs).

Desired Qualifications and Skills

Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

Experience in signal integrity, power integrity, grounding strategies, and EMI/EMC mitigation.

Analog and mixed-signal design experience, including sensor interfaces, ADC/DAC integration, low-noise practices, and high-speed interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet) with their layout constraints.

Experience designing for high-reliability or harsh environments (nuclear, aerospace, defense, or industrial), including radiation effects and radiation-tolerant design.

Experience with FPGA or microprocessor PCBs and embedded systems supporting hardware/software co-design.

Experience with power electronics or power distribution design.
