Job Summary

The Lead Implementation Engineer is a technical delivery person who partners with government customers to bring OpenGov cloud software to life across the most complex and highest-stakes deployments. This role owns the end-to-end technical strategy for large, multi-module implementations, from solution architecture and data migration design through configuration, testing, and go-live, and sets the technical quality bar for the entire Implementation Engineering organization.

Acting as a trusted advisor to senior government leaders, the Implementation Engineer IV combines deep product expertise with advanced data architecture, database, and automation skills. The role translates complex customer goals, legacy system constraints, and cross-departmental workflows into scalable, governed, and maintainable solutions. Beyond hands-on delivery, the Implementation Engineer IV shapes how the organization works: defining standards and reusable frameworks, coaching senior and mid-level engineers, resolving escalated technical risk, and driving the process and product improvements that make implementations faster, more consistent, and more repeatable for every customer.

Responsibilities

Own the technical strategy and solution architecture for the most complex, multi-module government implementations across the United States, including large-scale data migrations, multi-system integrations, and multi-department rollouts

Set the standard for configuration and data reviews across the implementation organization, approving final designs for high-risk deployments and ensuring alignment with documented requirements, product best practices, and long-term maintainability

Lead data architecture for customer migrations, defining source-to-target mapping strategies, ETL frameworks, reconciliation controls, and validation approaches that produce audit-ready data at scale

Resolve critical technical blockers escalated from active implementations, performing root-cause analysis on data integrity, performance, and configuration issues and driving corrective action with Product and Engineering

Lead requirements discovery with executive and technical stakeholders, pressure-testing assumptions, resolving conflicting departmental needs, and advising customers on design trade-offs with clear business impact

Define comprehensive test strategies and quality gates for complex deployments, and ensure test scenarios validate that configuration, integrations, and migrated data produce accurate outcomes before go-live

Serve as the senior technical advisor to government executives, Budget Directors, CIOs, and IT leadership, building long-term trust and guiding them through deployment, integration, and adoption strategy

Mentor and develop Implementation Engineers across all levels, providing technical leadership, reviewing complex configuration and data work, and building the skills and career paths of the broader engineering team

Establish and continuously improve implementation standards, playbooks, reusable tooling, and automation frameworks that raise delivery quality, consistency, and speed across the organization

Identify systemic patterns in customer pain points and lead cross-functional initiatives with Product, Engineering, Data/Integration, Project Management, and Customer Success to simplify and automate workflows at scale
