Field Growth Associate, Care Partnerships
1 in 4 people in the US have a treatable mental health condition, but most providers don't accept insurance, making therapy too expensive for most people. Headway’s mission is to fix this by building a new mental healthcare system everyone can access. We started by solving the biggest barrier to care: insurance. The admin work - credentialing, claims, payment reconciliation - is a nightmare. We've automated that.
But we're going further. Over 90,000 providers across all 50 states run their practice on our software, serving over 2.6 million patients. We are building the best tools for therapists to run their entire practice, reimagining the experience of finding a therapist, and investing in the platform foundations to enable this at scale, and building much of it with AI. We aren't just a billing layer; we are becoming the platform where care actually happens.
We're a Series D company with $325M+ in funding (a16z, Accel, Spark Capital, etc.), looking for exceptional people to help us achieve this mission. We want your time here to be the most meaningful experience of your career. Join us, and help change mental healthcare for the better.
About The Role
NYC office based: NY side, NJ side, and PA side (Philadelphia focus)
2 resident reps: Dallas-Fort Worth (preferred), Houston, Miami (preferred), Orlando
Headway's Care Partnerships team is on a mission to become the behavioral health partner of choice for every health system in the US. We make it easy for care management, social work, and clinical teams to refer their patients into high-quality outpatient behavioral health care — and we're growing fast.
We're building a dedicated field sales motion to grow that footprint street by street. As a Field Growth Associate, you'll own an assigned market — cold calling, dropping in on local provider offices, running lunch & learns, and showing up at networking events — to build the referral partnerships that drive patient access to care. You'll also own the relationships you create, growing and deepening them over time so a first referral turns into a long-term partner.
This is a ground-floor opportunity to build a field sales function in a market where the playbook is still being written, using a product that's already proven to work.
You will
Drive new referral partnerships in your assigned market through cold calling and in-field engagement — flyer drop-offs, lunch & learns, networking events, and any creative method that gets a foot in the door
Travel within a 40-50 mile radius of your territory.
Grow and manage your existing book of referral partners, delivering ongoing partner success and reporting that deepens the relationship and expands practice growth
Own your pipeline in Salesforce, keeping activity and forecasts current and organized
Document learnings on messaging, sequencing, and conversion performance, and share weekly metrics with the BD team to sharpen the playbook
Build trust across every level of a practice — receptionist, practice manager, clinician — and understand what that office is actually trying to solve
Treat every referral as the start of a relationship, not the end of a sale
You will love this role if
You have 1-3 years of field sales, outside sales, or high-volume outbound experience (BDR, SDR, physician liaison, territory rep) and can point to a track record of hitting activity and quota targets
You have grit — you can absorb a door closed in your face and go knock on the next one, day after day
You are curious and coachable — this is 0-to-1 work, so you learn fast, take feedback, and shift your approach when something isn't working
You build relationships and rapport quickly, and you can earn buy-in from a front desk to a physician in 90 seconds
You are organized and disciplined about keeping your pipeline and activity up to date in real time
You are motivated by the opportunity to help solve one of our generation's defining problems: access to mental healthcare
Bonus points if
You have experience selling into physician offices, health systems, or in a related field (DME, wound care, orthopedics, surgical, physical therapy, or home health)
