Cerebras Systems builds the world's largest AI chip, 56 times larger than GPUs. This architecture allows Cerebras to deliver industry-leading training and inference speeds; over 10 times faster than GPU-based hyperscale cloud inference services.

This order of magnitude increase in speed is transforming the user experience of AI applications, unlocking real-time iteration and increasing intelligence via additional agentic computation.

Cerebras works with the leading model labs, global enterprises, and cutting-edge AI-native startups. OpenAI recently announced a multi-year partnership with Cerebras, to deploy 750 megawatts of scale, transforming key workloads with ultra high-speed inference.

The Role

Cerebras is expanding the data center infrastructure that supports its AI systems. The BMS / EPMS Controls Engineer will define and deliver the building automation and electrical power monitoring systems for high-density data center projects, working across leased facilities, fit-outs and other deployment models. This role will turn Cerebras requirements into clear control and monitoring standards that can be implemented consistently by colo partners, design consultants, EPC contractors and equipment vendors.

The controls lead will own controls requirements from design review through integration, commissioning and handoff. The work spans the BMS and EPMS boundary: monitoring critical electrical and mechanical equipment, validating alarms and sequences, coordinating system interfaces, and ensuring the delivered platform gives facilities teams accurate, usable information to operate the site.

Responsibilities

Own the BMS and EPMS Basis of Design, design criteria, control narratives, sequence of operations, points lists, alarm philosophy and standard details for Cerebras data center deployments.

Review consultant, colo-provider and contractor design packages, including control schematics, network architecture, panel layouts, equipment schedules, submittals and integration matrices; track comments through closure.

Define monitoring and control interfaces for switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS, PDUs/RPPs, meters, chillers, pumps, CDUs, heat exchangers, leak detection and environmental systems, as applicable to each project.

Coordinate controls scope and responsibilities among Cerebras engineering, colo operations, electrical and mechanical designers, EPC/GC teams, controls contractors, OEMs, commissioning agents and IT/OT security.

Specify and review system integration using protocols such as BACnet/IP, Modbus TCP/RTU, SNMP and OPC UA where appropriate; verify points mapping, time synchronization, naming, alarming, trending and data retention requirements.

Apply controls network and cybersecurity requirements, including network segmentation, access controls, remote access, account management, change control and coordination with Cerebras security and IT teams.

Lead controls readiness through submittal reviews, factory and site acceptance testing, integrated systems testing, commissioning and closeout; verify sequences, failover behavior, alarms, trends, graphics and equipment status.

Help resolve field issues and control-system deficiencies; assess proposed changes for impacts to safety, reliability, schedule, cost and maintainability.

Develop reusable standards, checklists, commissioning scripts and lessons learned that improve execution across multiple sites and support a growing delivery pipeline.

Prepare clear status updates, technical recommendations, risk items and decision requests for project and engineering leadership.

Skills & Qualifications

Minimum

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Controls, Building Systems Engineering or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

7+ years of experience delivering BMS, EPMS, controls or instrumentation systems in data centers, other mission-critical facilities or complex industrial environments.

Hands-on experience reviewing control drawings, sequences, points lists, network diagrams, submittals and commissioning documentation.
