Ready to turn curiosity into impact?

Are you looking for work that makes a difference? Do you want to work with people who learn and grow together?

If so, Opencast could be the place for you. We’re a growing tech consultancy that creates user-centred solutions with purpose for our clients in government and business.

The role

We’re looking for a Bid Writer to join the Opencast Bid Team. Working with colleagues across Opencast, you will be responsible for developing high-quality, compelling responses which showcases our credentials, expertise and delivery experience in response to client requirements.

Opencast works across a range of public sector frameworks, so you will have the opportunity to work on bids of varying size and complexity.

In addition to bid writing, you will also have an opportunity to get involved in continuous improvement activities, which will involve contributing to process improvements.

AI is part of how our bid team works so we are seeking someone with experience in using AI tools to enhance bid writing while ensuring quality, accuracy, and compliance with data protection and confidentiality requirements.

Requirements

Writing clear, persuasive, and compliant tender responses which articulate win themes and differentiators

Interviewing subject matter experts and turning their input into clear, evidenced answers that meet the evaluation criteria

Supporting the development of win themes, bid storyboards and response structures

Ensuring responses address evaluation criteria and scoring requirements

Applying best-practice bid writing techniques to improve quality and competitiveness

Maintaining bid content and reusable knowledge assets

Using approved AI tools to produce structured first drafts in line with client stipulations on the use of AI

Checking every AI-generated draft for accuracy, relevance and compliance

Essential experience

We’ll want you to demonstrate experience in bid writing, with strong time management, attention to detail and communication skills. You don’t need to have had the job title of Bid Writer before, and we encourage applications from candidates that can demonstrate these core skills:

Proven experience writing winning bids, ideally for UK public sector buyers

Ability to work with technical and delivery experts and translate their input for non-specialist evaluators

Experience in working collaboratively to identify win themes and differentiators, and to support the development of storyboards and structured answer plans

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage several deadlines at once

Experience using AI tools to draft and improve tender responses

The following would also be helpful

Experience of writing joint bid responses with partner organisations

Knowledge of digital transformation, user-centred design, agile delivery, cloud, data, AI, and software engineering services

As well as bid management experience, there are essential core skills you’ll need to excel in this role:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

A keen eye for detail and a strong commitment to quality

Strong organisational and time-management skills

Ability to coordinate multiple priorities in parallel

Ability to articulate benefits and align them with client needs

Curiosity, willingness to learn and a naturally inquisitive approach

A problem-solving mindset and willingness to challenge the status quo

A collaborative, team-focused approach

Salary

£50,000 - £65,000 per annum.

What we offer

A competitive package including a 7% employer pension contribution, share options, and a discretionary bonus. You’ll also benefit from 25 days’ holiday and access to 3 annual “life happens” days to support unexpected situations.

We provide wellbeing support, ongoing professional development, volunteering opportunities, and the chance to be part of a genuinely supportive team.

Where you’ll work

This role requires regular on-site attendance at our HQ, hub offices and other business locations, alongside the flexibility to work from home. Travel may be required as part of the role and applicants should be able to travel when needed to support business activities and team collaboration.
