Accountabilities

In this role, you will support the engineering development and integration of control systems for reactor servicing equipment, collaborating with technical specialists and project stakeholders throughout the equipment lifecycle. Key responsibilities include:

Support the development of remotely operated, automated, robotic, and tele-operated equipment for reactor servicing activities.

Develop, review, and support the implementation of control system architectures, functional requirements, logic diagrams, and interface specifications for equipment and tooling.

Collaborate with mechanical design engineers to integrate instrumentation, sensors, actuators, motion control systems, and automation functions into reactor servicing equipment.

Contribute to the development of equipment operating sequences, handling plans, and automation strategies for refueling and maintenance operations.

Prepare and review engineering documentation, including system descriptions, requirements specifications, engineering calculations, technical studies, test plans, and reports.

Evaluate interfaces between reactor servicing equipment, plant systems, structures, and control systems to ensure functional and performance requirements are met.

Support equipment procurement, fabrication, factory acceptance testing, integration testing, and commissioning activities.

Coordinate with Systems Engineering, Operations, component design, civil and structural engineering teams, and suppliers to resolve technical issues and support integrated system development.

Apply applicable nuclear quality assurance requirements, regulatory standards, and engineering practices throughout assigned activities.

Assist with troubleshooting, design improvements, and the resolution of complex technical issues involving equipment controls and automation systems.

Contribute to the development and maintenance of engineering standards, methodologies, and best practices for refueling and remote handling control systems.

Perform additional duties as assigned to support project objectives.

The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background and practical experience supporting complex control systems, automation, robotics, or nuclear and industrial engineering programs. You should demonstrate sound technical judgment, strong problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to collaborate effectively in a regulated, safety-focused environment. Required qualifications and competencies include:

Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Nuclear Engineering from an accredited four-year institution; ABET accreditation preferred.

Professional Engineer (PE) license in Mechanical, Electrical, or Nuclear Engineering is desirable.

At least 5 years of engineering experience in nuclear, industrial automation, robotics, remote handling, process control, or related technical programs.

Experience developing or integrating control systems for complex mechanical equipment.

Experience preparing and reviewing engineering calculations, technical specifications, reports, and design documentation.

Familiarity with instrumentation, sensors, actuators, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), digital control systems, and automated equipment.

Experience working in a regulated engineering environment preferred.

Nuclear industry experience is desirable but not mandatory.

Eligibility to work under U.S. Department of Energy regulations pursuant to 10 CFR Part 810.

Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify issues, gather relevant information, evaluate alternatives, and develop effective solutions independently.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interpret complex technical information and communicate clearly with multidisciplinary teams.

Strong planning, organizational, and time-management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and manage project deadlines efficiently.

Adaptability and the ability to manage changing priorities, unexpected delays, and competing demands in a dynamic environment.
