Responsibilities
We are looking for an exceptional Partner Sales Manager to join our Japan partner team. This is a hybrid role: you will both execute commercial partnerships (managing existing and new partner relationships, contracts, and deal support) and design how partners create value with us (orchestrating Demand, Deal, Delivery, and Expansion across our partner ecosystem).
Workato's partner strategy is built on a simple idea: we don't just manage a partner channel — we orchestrate an ecosystem. Your job is to know which capability to bring in, from which partner, at which point in the customer journey, to create outcomes neither Workato nor the partner could create alone.
In this role, you will also be responsible to:
Partner Coverage & Commercial Execution
- Own and execute a Partner Plan covering existing and new partners, with clear commercial outcomes (new logos, upsell, renewal support)
- Manage our most important partnership relationships in the territory, including executive-level relationships, aligned with the territory strategy
- Lead due diligence, contracting, and commercial structuring for new partnerships, coordinating internal stakeholders (Legal, Finance, Product) through the assessment process
Ecosystem Orchestration & Demand Creation
- Design and run joint motions across the partner lifecycle: co-create demand, co-sell, co-deliver, and co-expand — not just “co-sell and co-deliver”
- Distinguish and develop two complementary partner motions: Horizontal (execution breadth — PoC, consulting, onboarding, implementation, managed services) and Vertical (industry depth — e.g., manufacturing, retail, financial services, construction), matching the right motion to the right partner
- Recruit new partners using an agenda-led approach: start from a customer or industry agenda, identify the capability gap, then identify the right partner archetype — not simply “more partners in a category”
- Help partners build business models beyond license resale (PoC, consulting, implementation, managed services, joint demand creation), and understand the current and emerging economics available to partners
- Orchestrate internal “deal pods” — coordinating AE, SE, CS, and Delivery stakeholders around partner-involved opportunities so that roles and hand-offs are clear
Market & Industry Presence
- Understand the competitive landscape to ensure Workato remains a partner-of-choice, and proactively bring recommendations to executive management
