Position summary
The Software Developer is a core member of the team that develops manufacturing applications empowered by AI. Work is centered around developing new applications and enhancing/operating those existing applications: building features, fixing defects, supporting users, and keeping both applications secure and reliable in Azure GCC High. Additionally, work will involve meeting the IT demands of Voyager's production sites, working from business requirements through design, build, test, release, and support.
The developer writes production code using AI and expertise, reviews teammates' changes, writes tests and documentation, and takes part in releases and incident response. The developer works directly with engineers, technicians, quality staff, and program managers to understand how work is actually done before designing how software should support it.
The work
- Manufacturing - Product lifecycle and manufacturing execution platform and piloting with lines of business. Enhance engineering and manufacturing BOMs, change control, release baselines, shop-floor work-instruction execution, quality and nonconformance records, controlled drawings and evidence, and the migration of data from legacy systems.
- Demand Planning - Resource-planning tool for program and engineering managers. Enhance planning grids, dashboards, actuals from NetSuite, capacity and demand views, proposals, the AI analytics assistant, notifications, exports, and reporting; maintain NetSuite synchronization and the scheduled jobs behind it.
- New manufacturing applications - Design and build new applications for Voyager's manufacturing sites. Examples include inventory and materials management, shop-floor tools, and applications for sites with different processes. Where it makes sense, new applications reuse existing platform, identity, and data foundations rather than starting from scratch.
Key responsibilities
Build and enhance
- Deliver features. Turn prioritized requirements into working, tested software in small, reviewable changes, using the team's branching, review, and release process.
- Design sensibly. Propose and implement designs for new features and applications, including data models, interfaces, access control, and audit requirements; record significant decisions so others can follow them.
- Build new manufacturing applications. Take new applications from requirements to production use: gather requirements from technical business analysts and site users, prototype, build, pilot, train users, and hand over to operations.
- Build and maintain integrations with NetSuite, IdP, telemetry, and other systems, using least-privilege credentials and the team's secret-handling standards.
- Use AI to improve development efficiency and empower rapid scalable delivery of applications and services.
Quality and operations
- Test thoroughly. Write unit, integration, and database tests; keep the continuous-integration suite green; verify changes against realistic data before release.
