The Role

We’re looking for an experienced compensation professional to help build and manage SimplePractice’s compensation programs across job architecture, market pricing, salary ranges, and annual compensation planning for our US and Mexico teams.

This is a hands-on role on a small team, with the opportunity to shape how we work and accelerate our capabilities through AI. You’ll partner closely with the Senior Director, lead projects, advise business leaders on compensation decisions, and pioneer the adoption of AI tooling to automate and enhance our Total Rewards operations. Some work will involve improving established processes; other projects will require you to navigate incomplete or conflicting information, apply sound judgment, and recommend a path forward.

Responsibilities

Job Architecture and Market Pricing

  • Lead job architecture reviews with business leaders, evaluating role responsibilities, recommending job families and levels, selecting market matches, and documenting decisions.
  • Price jobs using Aon/Radford and other compensation surveys, assess market competitiveness, and communicate recommendations, including where judgment is required.
  • Develop and maintain salary ranges for the US and Mexico, analyzing geographic differences, internal equity and employee pay, and modeling the cost of proposed changes.

Annual Compensation and Programs

  • Lead key components of annual merit, promotion, and bonus planning, from preparing employee data and guidelines through testing, manager support, and final validation.
  • Partner with Finance, People Technology, and Payroll to reconcile budgets, validate calculations, and ensure approved compensation changes are implemented accurately.
  • Advise People and Culture partners, Talent Acquisition, and managers on offers, promotions, job changes, and pay adjustments, including requests outside established guidelines.
  • Support incentive, recognition, and long-term compensation projects in partnership with the Senior Director and Finance.

Systems, Data, AI, and Process Improvement

  • Partner with People Technology to define requirements, test system changes, and investigate discrepancies in job and compensation data to improve Workday reporting.
  • Design, develop, and deploy internal AI tooling and automated workflows to accelerate job matching, survey submissions, and complex compensation data analysis.
  • Manage compensation survey submissions and maintain accurate market matches, documentation, and supporting records.
  • Develop tools, AI-assisted resources, and manager guidance that promote consistent pay decisions. Improve recurring processes through better templates, data hygiene, and applied automation.
  • Manage projects from start to finish, preparing materials for review, tracking decisions, coordinating follow-through, and raising issues early.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Typically six or more years of compensation experience, including ownership of complex analyses and projects.
  • Experience evaluating jobs, pricing roles, developing salary ranges, and managing annual compensation planning.
  • Sound judgment when job descriptions, market data, or stakeholder feedback present conflicting information or no obvious answer.
