About Moment Energy

Independent energy is here. Help us deploy it.

Energy should be free. Free from aging grids, fragile supply chains, and unnecessary extraction. At Moment Energy, we’re building a world where clean power is abundant, affordable, and uninterrupted for everyone.

The world doesn’t need another promise about energy; it needs proof that a freer future is possible. Moment Energy is the pragmatic liberator of power, the only company certified to turn the largest untapped energy supply into independent energy.

Now is the moment. While the industry scraps millions of batteries with decades of life left, we put them to work by repurposing large-format batteries into advanced battery energy storage systems that deliver real-world impact.

We were told second-life batteries would never be safe enough or scalable enough. We didn’t argue, we engineered the solution. Today, Moment Energy delivers 5x the energy density and holds the certifications required to deploy energy independence at scale.

Now is the moment. Join us.

The Opportunity

Moment Energy is seeking a Certification Engineering Co-op to support our Certification Engineer in researching, coordinating, and documenting the regulatory requirements that allow our battery energy storage systems to be safely certified and deployed.

This is a hands-on learning opportunity for an engineering student interested in product safety, electrical systems, battery technology, and industry certification standards. You will work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams at our Megafactory in Surrey while gaining exposure to the certification processes behind commercial-scale energy storage products.

You'll help organize technical documentation, research applicable standards, track certification activities, and support preparation for testing and compliance reviews. Your work will contribute directly to bringing innovative energy storage products to market.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Research and summarize applicable certification standards and regulatory requirements, including CSA, UL, and NFPA standards.
  • Support the Certification Engineers in understanding and documenting requirements related to UL 1974, UL 1973, UL 9540, and UL 9540A.
  • Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, and product documentation to help identify information required for certification.
  • Maintain organized certification documentation, technical records, test reports, and compliance evidence.
  • Assist with tracking certification milestones, project timelines, outstanding requirements, and action items.
  • Support preparation for certification testing by coordinating documentation, product samples, and technical information.
  • Assist with communication and information gathering between engineering, production, quality teams, and external testing laboratories.
  • Research certification and regulatory requirements for new markets and energy storage applications.
  • Help identify gaps in technical documentation and follow up with relevant engineering teams to obtain outstanding information.
  • Contribute to improving internal documentation processes, compliance tracking tools, and certification workflows.

The Candidate

We're looking for an individual who is curious, detail-oriented, and eager to learn how complex electrical products are tested, evaluated, and certified.

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems Engineering, or another related engineering discipline.
  • Strong research, analytical, and technical documentation skills.
  • Ability to review technical information, identify key requirements, and summarize findings clearly.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, particularly Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and willingness to ask questions, seek clarification, and learn from others.
