Location: US Remote

Reports To: Director of Estimation and Business Development

Salary Range: $125,000-$156,000

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Estimating, the CPQ Manager connects Sales, Estimating, Engineering, Product Management, Supply Chain, and Software. The role owns business requirements, release priorities, acceptance criteria, and adoption, not software architecture or code delivery. Success is measured by simpler sales experience, a more reliable quote to order process, and a scalable Configure to Order platform.

Key Responsibilities

CPQ Strategy and Roadmap

  • Own and maintain the CPQ business roadmap, translating market needs, sales feedback, product strategy, and operating priorities into clear, sequenced work.
  • Establish business cases, value hypotheses, acceptance criteria, and release priorities for front end quoting and back-end configuration, pricing, and order handoff capabilities.
  • Partner with Software to refine requirements, resolve tradeoffs, manage dependencies, and communicate release scope and readiness to stakeholders.
  • Define and track practical performance measures such as quote cycle time, configuration accuracy, rework, adoption, margin protection, and user effort.
  • Establish training plans for release launches when necessary.

Power Distribution Product and Commercial Enablement

  • Apply working knowledge of LV and MV power distribution equipment, single line diagrams, bills of material, ratings, options, and specification requirements to improve configuration logic and commercial usability.
  • Work with Estimating, Engineering, Product Management, and Supply Chain to convert product knowledge, pricing logic, lead times, and commercial rules into usable CPQ capabilities.
  • Identify high value Configure to Order opportunities that improve speed and consistency while preserving the flexibility required for engineered solutions.

Team Leadership and Cross Functional Governance

  • Lead the CPQ support team, including the Price Book and CTO Specialist, UI/UX Tester, and Sales UAT Specialist.
  • Set operating cadence for backlog review, stakeholder input, testing readiness, change communication, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the Price Book and CTO Specialist maintains supplier cost and price book integrity and advances CTO rules and data.
  • Ensure the UI/UX Tester removes unnecessary clicks and friction without sacrificing essential functionality.
  • Partner with the Sales UAT Specialist to validate the end-to-end commercial workflow: CRM opportunity creation, CPQ quote configuration, API handoffs, and order entry.
  • Create clear release communications, training inputs, feedback loops, and adoption plans for Sales, Estimating, and other users.
  • Triage defects and enhancement requests based on commercial impact, user experience, data quality, risk, and strategic value.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience in CPQ, product management, sales operations, business systems, estimating systems, or a comparable business technology leadership role.
  • Experience working in a software development environment using structured requirements, backlog prioritization, testing, release management, and iterative delivery.
  • Working knowledge of electrical power distribution equipment and the commercial process for technical quotations, configuration, and order handoff.
  • Ability to translate between business users and technical teams, explain tradeoffs, and make priorities clear.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross functional projects and influencing stakeholders without relying solely on direct authority.
