Job Description

What You’ll Do

Interns at IMA are a big deal. We know an internship is more than just a summer job. It’s an opportunity to explore a career, build your network, develop new skills, and discover where you want to go next. That’s why IMA’s internship program is designed to give you real-world, hands-on experience from day one. You will become part of our values-driven culture, connect with senior leaders and industry professionals, collaborate with associates across the organization, and contribute to meaningful work that supports our clients and our business. This internship will be based out of our Atlanta office, with an on-site schedule of three days per week (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday) and a remote schedule on Thursdays and Fridays.

Throughout the summer, you will participate in a combination of:

  • Hands-on projects and meaningful department-specific work
  • Professional development and learning opportunities
  • Networking with IMA leaders and associates
  • Job shadowing and exposure to different career paths within the insurance industry
  • Intern cohort events designed to help you build relationships and have fun along the way

Your internship experience will combine programming shared with the broader IMA intern cohort with specialized experiences tailored to the team you join.

Employee Benefits Internship

Our Employee Benefits team is excited to welcome an intern to our summer internship program. This internship offers the opportunity to experience firsthand how a leading insurance brokerage and consulting firm partners with employers to develop benefits strategies that support their people and their business. You will work alongside experienced Employee Benefits professionals and gain exposure to the many components that go into supporting employer-sponsored benefit programs, including client service, benefits strategy, renewals, carrier relationships, data and analytics, and business development.

What You’ll Experience

During your internship, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work alongside Employee Benefits professionals on projects that support our clients, associates, and business
  • Learn how IMA partners with employers to evaluate, develop, and manage employee benefits programs
  • Gain exposure to different benefit offerings and solutions, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and other employer-sponsored benefits
  • Support client service teams with day-to-day projects and activities while learning how strong client relationships are built and maintained
  • Gain exposure to the renewal process and learn how IMA works with clients and insurance carriers to evaluate benefit options
  • Shadow Account Managers, Account Executives, Consultants, Producers, and other Employee Benefits professionals to learn about the different career paths available within the industry
  • Connect with Producers and business development professionals to learn how IMA builds relationships, identifies opportunities, and develops long-term client partnerships
  • Participate in meetings and projects with associates across different areas of Employee Benefits to see how teams collaborate to deliver solutions for clients
  • Build relationships with fellow interns, IMA associates, and leaders while expanding your professional network
  • Develop practical business, communication, analytical, and industry knowledge that will help prepare you for your career after graduation

More Than a Summer Internship

Many former IMA interns have gone on to build careers with us after graduation, and we’re proud that our internship program serves as an important pipeline for future talent. We’re looking for students who are curious, motivated, eager to learn, and excited about exploring the possibilities of a career in employee benefits, insurance, consulting, client service, and sales.

You may be a great fit if you:

  • Are currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree, ideally in Business, Finance, Risk Management, Insurance, Human Resources, Marketing, or a related field
