Field Engineer
Figma is growing our team of passionate creatives and builders on a mission to make design accessible to all. Figma’s platform helps teams bring ideas to life—whether you're brainstorming, creating a prototype, translating designs into code, or iterating with AI. From idea to product, Figma empowers teams to streamline workflows, move faster, and work together in real time from anywhere in the world. If you're excited to shape the future of design and collaboration, join us!
As a Field Engineer, you will own technical consultations that help enterprise customers adopt and optimize Figma. You will uncover technical challenges, guide customers toward an agreed solution through demonstrations, architectural recommendations, and deliver actionable deployment guidance. Where appropriate, you will deliver scoped engagements in customer environments, writing and adapting code, configuring integrations, and validating solutions alongside customer teams.
This is a full time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States.
What you’ll do at Figma
- Lead technical consultations from discovery through closeout, uncovering customer challenges and defining a clear path to adoption.
- Secure customer agreement on proposed solutions through presentations, demonstrations, and architectural guidance, then deliver a technical deployment guide.
- Advise on enterprise integrations, identity, governance, design systems and developer workflows, including Code Connect, Dev Mode, MCP, and AI-assisted development.
- Deliver carefully scoped implementation engagements in customer environments: navigate existing code, write or adapt code and configuration, and debug and validate results within customer development processes.
- Enable customer teams to maintain and extend solutions through workshops, documentation, and hands-on knowledge transfer.
- Partner with Forward Deployed Engineering to develop reusable playbooks and own unfamiliar problems through diagnosis and scoping, bringing in specialists as needed.
- Coordinate with customer success, sales, product, and engineering teams to remove adoption barriers, share implementation insights, and connect technical outcomes to customer value and account growth. Surface recurring friction, workarounds, and unmet needs to inform product improvements.
We'd love to hear from you if you have
- 5+ years of experience in a customer-facing technical role, such as technical account management, solutions engineering, technical consulting, or implementation engineering.
- Experience leading technical discovery, defining scoped solutions, and aligning multiple stakeholders on an implementation approach, plus strong communication skills for presenting recommendations, demonstrating solutions, and writing deployment guidance that customers can follow independently.
- Strong software development skills in web, mobile, or other applications, including navigating unfamiliar codebases, writing and testing code, and learning new languages and frameworks, with working knowledge of APIs, authentication, Git, and developer tooling to troubleshoot integrations and follow customer code review and deployment processes.
- Demonstrated knowledge of how enterprise identity, access controls, and governance affect implementation, and how design systems and reusable components connect design to code.
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools, with the ability to explain generated code, verify its behavior, and take responsibility for the changes you deliver.
While it’s not required, it’s an added plus if you also have
- 2+ years of experience as a product engineer working in a modern PDLC
- Experience with Figma, Code Connect, Dev Mode, Make, or related design and developer collaboration tools.
- Experience building or maintaining design systems, component libraries, or design token pipelines.
- Deeper expertise in enterprise identity integrations, CI/CD pipelines, or security and governance requirements.
- Experience turning customer implementations into reusable playbooks, reference examples, or technical enablement materials.
