Purpose

Divergent's Design and Engineering Systems (DES) organization is seeking a Tech Fellow, Software Architecture (E9) to establish technical direction and advance the architectural capabilities of Divergent's engineering software ecosystem.

This role is a pre-eminent technical authority in engineering application architecture, interactive 3D systems, and computational software platforms. The Tech Fellow addresses novel, strategic technical challenges with business-wide implications and influences the evolution of engineering software, computational design, and related technology practices.

Working across organizational boundaries, this individual shapes technical roadmaps, guides major engineering programs, and establishes architectural standards that enable Divergent to deliver increasingly sophisticated computational design and manufacturing capabilities. The role also represents technical excellence in engagements with key customers, vendors, and external technical partners.

The Role

  • Establish technical direction and architectural standards for complex engineering software capabilities spanning interactive 3D applications, computational engineering, and related software platforms.
  • Serve as a recognized technical authority in desktop CAE architecture, engineering application frameworks, graphics systems, and computational software integration.
  • Solve novel, strategic architectural problems with business-wide implications for engineering software, computational design, and platform capabilities.
  • Define architectural approaches that influence technical roadmaps and major engineering programs across DES and related organizations.
  • Guide the evolution of shared engineering software capabilities, including interactive 3D frameworks, GPU-enabled computational workflows, and integration with CAE solvers and engineering platforms.
  • Influence architecture decisions that affect multiple programs, product areas, technical disciplines, and external technical partnerships.
  • Establish and advance technical standards and architectural practices that improve system interoperability, scalability, performance, and engineering effectiveness.
  • Anticipate emerging technology trends and assess their implications for Divergent's engineering software strategy, computational capabilities, and long-term technical differentiation.
  • Advise senior technical and business leadership on strategic architecture decisions, complex technical risks, and major technology investments.
  • Lead or guide major technical initiatives that require alignment across multiple engineering functions and programs.
  • Represent Divergent's technical expertise in engagements with key customers, vendors, and external technical partners.
  • Influence technical practices and architectural approaches beyond individual programs by sharing expertise, advancing technical thought leadership, and guiding collaborative engineering initiatives.
  • Mentor senior technical contributors and emerging architectural leaders, strengthening the organization's depth of expertise and technical judgment.
  • Ensure architectural direction supports long-term business objectives while maintaining appropriate balance among innovation, technical risk, performance, and maintainability.

Basic Qualifications

  • Ability to lawfully access information and technology subject to U.S. export controls.
  • Pre-eminent technical expertise in software architecture for complex engineering applications, desktop CAE systems, computational software, or related industrial technology.
