Senior Manager, Australia Communications
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.
Anduril is building technology for the defence challenges of today and tomorrow. In Australia, that means working with the ADF, industry and partners to develop and deliver capabilities that can make a difference in the defence of our nation.
We’re looking for a Senior Manager, Communications to help tell that story. You will turn complex programs and technology into clear, credible communications for Australian audiences. You will lead media engagement, develop narratives around our work, support senior leaders and help the team communicate through major milestones and fast-moving issues.
This is a hands-on role for someone who can set direction, write exceptionally well and deliver at pace. You will work across the Australian business and with colleagues internationally, balancing long-term reputation building with the demands of a busy news cycle.
The Australian business is growing rapidly, with over 300 employees, so this role will also support our internal comms work, engaging our employees and making sure our people are bought into the mission.
What you’ll do
- Develop and execute communications plans that support Anduril’s priorities in Australia.
- Build relationships with defence, technology, business and national media; identify opportunities to tell substantive stories about our work.
- Write and edit announcements, speeches, opinion pieces, briefing materials, social content and executive messages.
- Advise Australian leaders on messaging, interviews, speaking opportunities and sensitive issues.
- Work with program, engineering and business teams to understand their work and explain its relevance to customers and the broader public.
- Plan communications for product and program milestones, partnerships, events and other significant moments.
- Manage reactive media enquiries and help prepare for issues or crises with sound judgement and clear processes.
- Coordinate with global communications colleagues so Australian communications reflect local priorities and the company’s wider direction.
- Own internal communications for Anduril Australia, keeping employees informed about business priorities, program milestones and decisions that affect their work.
- Partner with Australian leaders to plan and deliver clear, timely updates, including all-hands meetings, leadership messages and major announcements.
- Help teams understand how their work contributes to Anduril’s mission, connecting progress across programs, functions and locations.
- Measure what is working and improve plans based on outcomes, feedback and changes in the external environment.
What you’ll bring
- Significant experience in communications, media relations or public affairs, including ownership of complex projects from strategy through execution.
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to make technical subjects understandable without losing accuracy.
- Strong knowledge of the Australian media and policy environment, ideally including defence, national security or technology.
- A record of advising senior leaders and working in executive communications
- Confidence working directly with journalists and handling sensitive or high-stakes issues.
- The curiosity to learn how a product works, the judgement to know what matters to an audience, and the discipline to check the details.
- A practical, collaborative approach and the ability to move between strategic planning and hands-on delivery.
