Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.

We are seeking a driven Engineering Manager to lead the Applications team within Anduril's Connected Factory organization. Connected Factory connects people, robots, and systems across our smart factories, and is made up of two IoT teams: Platform, which builds the underlying infrastructure, edge, and data services, and Applications, which builds the software products that people on the factory floor and across the enterprise use every day.

As the Applications Engineering Manager, you will own a portfolio of products that turn factory data into usable tools. These include our digital twin applications, such as the asset management system that tracks equipment, tooling, and fixtures across their lifecycle; the factory digital twin, a live model of our production environments that supports planning, monitoring, and decision-making; and smart tool connectivity, which integrates connected tools, test equipment, and other instrumented devices into our manufacturing workflows. You will work closely with the Connected Factory Platform team, as well as Manufacturing, Automation, and Quality, to make sure these products solve real operational problems and scale with Anduril's growing factory footprint.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in building user-facing software on top of data heavy and hardware connected systems, has experience leading and growing an engineering team, and works comfortably in a fast-paced, greenfield environment.

Responsibilities

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers building core Connected Factory applications.
  • Own team planning, prioritization, and delivery, keeping commitments clear and visible to stakeholders.
  • Hire, onboard, and develop engineers, with regular coaching and feedback.

Technical Execution

  • Work with product to guide the design of applications that support smart manufacturing.
  • Work with Automation, Manufacturing, and IT teams to integrate software with robotics and operational technology.
  • Help build tools for simulation, orchestration, and monitoring of production environments.

Smart Factory Integration

  • Own the vision and delivery of best-in-class digital twin applications that provide the most accurate, real-time representation of our equipment, tooling, and factories.
  • Partner with technicians, automation and robotics teams to enable efficient human-machine collaboration.

Operational Excellence

  • Drive operational and engineering excellence across your team’s services.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.

Experience & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on software development in a modern programming language (e.g., Python, TypeScript, Java), with at 2+ years leading engineers as a manager or technical lead.
  • AI-native approach to engineering, using AI tools to speed up development, improve code quality, and boost team productivity.
  • Exposure to systems that bridge IT and OT (IoT protocols, edge computing), with attention to reliability, security, and scalability.
  • Familiarity with data collection, processing, and reporting for factory infrastructure.
  • Exposure to robotics, industrial automation, or real-time data streaming is a plus.

Skills & Attributes

  • Technical Depth: Solid foundations in infrastructure, data systems, and API-driven design.
