Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.

We're looking for a Vehicle System Lead to own the Seabed Sentry product — a persistent, autonomous seabed sensing node designed for undersea surveillance and reconnaissance. This person will lead a cross-functional team of mechanical, electrical, systems, and software engineers through the full product lifecycle: design, development, integration, test, and fielding.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role. You'll be making architecture decisions, driving trade studies, resolving integration issues across disciplines, and representing the system in design reviews, test events, and customer demonstrations. You should be comfortable operating at the system level while still being able to get into the details with your engineering leads.

What You'll Do

  • Lead a multi-disciplinary engineering team (mechanical, electrical, systems, software) through the design, development, and production of Seabed Sentry
  • Own the system architecture and drive technical decisions across subsystems — structure, power, communications, compute, sensors, and autonomy
  • Manage system-level integration and test, ensuring subsystems come together into a working product
  • Define and maintain system requirements, interface definitions, and verification plans
  • Drive trade studies and design trades across performance, cost, schedule, and manufacturability
  • Coordinate with program management on schedule, milestones, and resource planning
  • Represent the system in design reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR), test readiness, and customer demonstrations
  • Work directly with field operations and deployment teams to ensure the system is operationally viable
  • Support the design of launch, recovery, and handling systems as needed
  • Identify and retire technical risk early through prototyping, analysis, and test

What You Should Have

  • BS or MS in systems engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, robotics, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in systems engineering or technical leadership on complex electromechanical products
  • Experience leading cross-functional engineering teams through design, integration, and test
  • Background in robotics, autonomous systems, or maritime/undersea platforms
  • Strong understanding of system-level trades across mechanical, electrical, software, and communications domains
  • Experience with system requirements development, interface management, and verification & validation
  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced, iterative development environment where you're building and testing hardware, not just writing documents
  • Experience with field testing, deployment operations, or operational demonstrations
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally to support test events and demonstrations

Nice to Have

  • Experience with autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), undersea sensors, or seabed systems
  • Background in acoustic systems, subsea communications, or oceanographic instrumentation
  • Experience with defense acquisition, ITAR, and export-controlled programs
