Director, Leadership Development
Overview
We are looking for a strategic and innovative Director of Leadership Development to play a pivotal role in designing and delivering transformational leadership experiences. At Alnylam, we believe in “leadership from every chair,” and you will be the expert architect and driver of high-impact initiatives that build capability for managers and critical segments of our talent population. You will partner deeply with HR leadership and business leaders to diagnose capability gaps and co-create solutions that drive business results. You will balance strategic thinking with operational excellence, executing experiences at scale including coaching and curated development programs. This is a powerful opportunity to accelerate Alnylam’s impact by strengthening leadership that supports our growth, enables teams to navigate complexity, and ultimately delivers for patients.
Responsibilities
- Partner with senior leaders, HR Business Partners, HR Innovation & Analytics and key stakeholders like Expertise Area (EA) capability/learning leads to assess needs and identify opportunities to strengthen leadership and manager effectiveness.
- Design and deliver highly effective, inclusive leadership experiences, including workshops, blended learning, and in-the-flow learning. You will utilize different types of learning based on the situation, including in-person, self-directed, and virtual formats.
- Design a leadership development framework that supports future-ready leadership, bench readiness, and talent mobility, in partnership with Talent Management.
- Lead the evolution of Alnylam's enterprise coaching strategy and portfolio, identifying opportunities to expand access, improve impact, and integrate emerging capabilities such as AI coaching.
- Using data, feedback, and business insights to assess impact and continuously improve leadership development offerings.
- Identify and manage external partners as needed, and leverage innovative tools, including GenAI and modern training applications, to strategically accelerate outcomes and enhance learning experiences in a global, hybrid work environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree preferred; MBA or a Master’s in Learning, Organizational Development, or I/O Psychology is a plus.
- Minimum 8-10 years of progressive experience in building and scaling leadership development programs.
- A thought leader in leadership development with knowledge of industry trends and the latest research.
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles with a proven track record of designing content and facilitating sessions for audiences at all levels. You have a practical approach focused on application over theory.
- Experience leveraging AI, automation, and data-driven platforms to personalize learning and scale capability building, with strong awareness of emerging technologies and agentic applications.
- Test-and-learn mindset, comfortable with ambiguity, energized by problem-solving, and quick to iterate.
- Exceptional communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels, including senior leadership.
- Strong program and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple high-visibility initiatives in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
