A rapidly growing, entrepreneurial technology company, Building36 — a subsidiary of Alarm.com — is seeking a motivated and talented Software Engineer to join its fast-paced engineering team. Building36 is at the forefront of smart home and commercial technology, developing innovative solutions across a broad spectrum of technologies including GSM communication, wireless RF networks, intelligent video analysis, home automation protocols (HVAC, lighting, energy monitoring), web and mobile application development, and large-scale, mission-critical database systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Software Engineer's primary job responsibilities will include:

Designing, developing, implementing, and testing new software features across the full stack
Innovating and improving existing products and platforms
Analyzing functional requirements and product specifications
Researching, adopting, and integrating new technologies
Taking ownership of projects to ensure their successful completion with respect to deadlines
Collaborating with Quality Assurance in developing test plans to ensure successful deployment of updates
Working cross-functionally with Product Management, Device Engineering, and Quality Engineering teams
Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

B.A. or B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar engineering program with strong academic performance
Self-starter, analytical, and a tenacious problem solver
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Rigorous attention to detail with a focus on robustness, scalability, and quality of deliverables
Proven team experience and comfort in a team-oriented environment
Passion for working with technology and excitement for creating high-quality consumer technology products

Preferred Qualifications

Experience designing, developing, and maintaining applications using Microsoft .NET technologies, C#, and SQL Server
Familiarity with web and mobile application development
Experience with wireless communication technologies (GSM, RF, Z-Wave, Zigbee, Bluetooth) a plus
Experience with IoT devices and cloud-based development a plus
