A Snapshot

As the Director, Development & Governance, reporting to the Senior Director, Development Controls, you will own the controlled Development operating framework. You will make sure the end-to-end lifecycle, standards, playbooks, templates, systems and governance records work as one clear and current way of working for Development teams.

  • Own the Development E2E Lifecycle and Knowledge Hub as the authoritative map of steps, gates, minimum inputs and deliverables.
  • Maintain controlled standards, playbooks, templates and governance processes mapped to the lifecycle and approved authorities.
  • Lead governance capability, systems adoption and portfolio information in partnership with Development teams and subject matter experts.

Your Day to Day

Lifecycle and Governance Framework

  • Own and maintain the Development E2E Lifecycle, including lifecycle stages, hard gates, minimum inputs, key deliverables and evidence expectations.
  • Maintain the Development Knowledge Hub as the controlled source for lifecycle guidance and its links to approved Level 2 standards and Level 3 playbooks, templates and checklists.
  • Map approved GMS requirements, Gold Standards, Delegations of Authority and governance controls to the lifecycle so teams can find the applicable requirement at each stage.
  • Coordinate with Project Controls & Assurance so the governance baseline can be tested consistently and assurance findings are routed to the appropriate owner.

Standards, Playbooks and Controlled Releases

  • Set requirements for ownership, technical review, approval, version control, scheduled review and publication of Development standards and playbooks.
  • Coordinate drafting and review with Principals, SMEs, Development leaders and process owners. Keep approvals, decisions and change history traceable.
  • Manage the controlled release process for approved procedures, templates, checklists and process updates, with clear communication to affected teams.
  • Partner with Continual Improvement & Change Controls to assess lessons and approved changes before they are incorporated into controlled guidance.

Systems, Information and Capability

  • Set governance requirements for Development systems, registers, information structures and workflow controls.
  • Work with IT and system owners on configuration, access, integrations and adoption while keeping process ownership with the relevant business function.
  • Lead the Development Governance pillar, including Data & Analytics, and ensure portfolio information supports governance and executive decisions.
  • Identify capability and adoption gaps and coordinate guidance, training and support with functional leaders.

Leadership and Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Advise the Senior Director, Development Controls and Development leadership on governance gaps, process changes and adoption risks.
  • Work across Development, Operations, Customer teams, Commercial, Procurement, Technology and other functions where processes cross organisational boundaries.
  • Prioritise governance and system improvements against business needs, delegated authority and available capacity.

Requirements

  • Senior experience in Development governance, project controls, standards, operating systems or comparable capital delivery.
