Electrical Engineer II
At WHOOP, we're on a mission to unlock and inspire performance for life. WHOOP empowers members to perform at a higher level through a deeper understanding of their bodies and daily lives.
WHOOP is hiring an Electrical Engineer II to help advance the performance, reliability, and scalability of WHOOP wearable technology and supporting hardware. As a member of the Hardware Engineering team, you will play a hands-on role in designing, testing, characterizing, debugging, and improving electrical systems throughout the product lifecycle, from early development and prototyping through high-volume production and continuous improvement. You will work closely with Electrical, Mechanical, Firmware, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to investigate complex technical challenges, develop and validate robust solutions, and drive improvements in product performance, quality, reliability, and manufacturability.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, test, characterize, debug, and optimize low-power, mixed-signal electronic circuits and systems across new product development and continuous improvement initiatives
Contribute to schematic design, component selection, PCB development, hardware prototyping, board bring-up, and design iteration to improve system performance, robustness, and manufacturability
Develop and execute electrical experiments, characterization plans, and validation testing to understand system behavior, investigate failures, identify root causes, and guide engineering decisions
Analyze test data and troubleshoot electrical issues to drive improvements in circuit performance, power consumption, signal integrity, reliability, production yield, and cost
Collaborate across Electrical, Mechanical, Firmware, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams, as well as with suppliers and contract manufacturers, to resolve technical challenges and implement robust hardware solutions
Support hardware through design verification, validation, new product introduction (NPI), and ongoing production, including engineering change orders (ECOs) and design improvements; travel up to 15% domestically and internationally to collaborate with partners and suppliers
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
3+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience designing, developing, testing, debugging, or supporting electronic hardware
Strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals, including analog and digital circuit design, power management, signal integrity, component fundamentals, and common communication interfaces
Hands-on experience designing, prototyping, testing, characterizing, and debugging electrical circuits and systems using standard laboratory equipment
Experience reading and developing schematics and working with ECAD tools such as Altium or equivalent
Experience with hardware development, validation, or production support, including exposure to design verification, failure analysis, design iteration, or manufacturing processes
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data, experimentation, and cross-functional collaboration to investigate complex technical problems and drive effective solutions
Strong commitment to embracing and leveraging AI tools in day-to-day tasks, ensuring AI-assisted work aligns with the same high-quality standards as personal contributions.
