Senior Revenue Accountant II
Virta Health is on a mission to transform type 2 diabetes and weight-loss care. Current treatment approaches aren’t working—over half of US adults have either type 2 diabetes or prediabetes, and obesity rates are at an all-time high. Virta is changing this by helping people reverse their metabolic condition through innovations in technology, personalized nutrition, and virtual care delivery reinvented from the ground up. We have raised over $350 million from top-tier investors, and partner with the largest health plans, employers, and government organizations to help their employees and members restore their health and take back their lives. Join us on our mission to reverse diabetes and obesity in one billion people.
This is a hands-on role with meaningful ownership across Virta's revenue accounting function. You’ll work with complex data, accounting judgments, and cross-functional partners to understand how business activity flows through the financial statements. The role offers room to deepen your revenue expertise, lead visible analyses and projects, and improve and automate recurring processes as Virta continues to scale.
Responsibilities
Own the preparation and execution of significant portions of the revenue close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, financial statement analyses, controls, and supporting documentation
Apply ASC 606 and Virta accounting policies to recurring and moderately complex revenue arrangements, research accounting questions, and escalate highly judgmental or non-standard matters as appropriate
Analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue results, identify key business drivers, unusual trends, and risks, and communicate clear insights and follow-up actions to revenue accounting leadership and cross-functional partners
Partner cross-functionally with Strategic Finance, Revenue Cycle Management, Operations, Legal, and other stakeholders to evaluate business activity, resolve accounting questions, and support accurate and timely revenue recognition
Lead defined revenue accounting projects and process improvements, including automation and AI-enabled solutions that improve accuracy, efficiency, scalability, or control
Monitor revenue systems, reporting, and data quality; investigate exceptions or inconsistencies, identify root causes, and coordinate with the appropriate teams to drive issues toward resolution
Support quarterly reviews and the annual audit by preparing high-quality schedules, documentation, and explanations and independently resolving routine auditor requests
Proactively identify opportunities to strengthen controls, documentation, and close processes; develop practical solutions and help drive them through implementation
Serve as a knowledgeable resource on revenue accounting processes, maintain clear documentation and best practices, and share knowledge that helps the broader team deliver high-quality work
90 Day Plan
Within your first 90 days at Virta, we expect you will do the following:
Take independent ownership of significant recurring revenue close activities, including related journal entries, reconciliations, controls, analyses, and supporting documentation
Build strong working relationships with key cross-functional stakeholders and develop a clear understanding of Virta’s revenue cycle, contract structures, systems, and key accounting dependencies
Develop a strong understanding of revenue systems and data flows and identify at least one meaningful process improvement or automation opportunity that improves accuracy, efficiency, scalability, or control
Must-Haves
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably with a mix of public accounting and progressive industry experience; CPA preferred
Strong understanding of revenue accounting principles and ASC 606, with the ability to independently own recurring revenue processes, research issues, and apply established accounting policies to moderately complex scenarios
Demonstrated ability to deliver medium-to-large projects and recurring accounting processes, analyze complex data, identify meaningful trends or risks, and translate findings into clear actions
