As a Staff Product Manager for vMetal at vCluster Labs, you’ll help own the systems that discover, provision, configure, and manage physical hardware, turning racks of bare metal into a programmable platform for AI Cloud operators and hyperscalers to build tenant clusters on top of. You’ll work directly with the Head of Product and engineering leadership on the tradeoffs that shape where vMetal goes next.

As a Staff Product Manager, your role will include

Infrastructure Direction: Align on business priorities and technical direction for vMetal across compute and networking, and translate that into specs engineering can execute against..

Networking: Own vMetal’s networking layer. Define how vMetal provisions and isolates tenant networks across InfiniBand and high-speed Ethernet fabrics, from tenant VPCs to rail-optimized GPU fabrics, and how it works with fabric controllers and NVIDIA’s networking tools.

Product Leadership Partnership: Work directly with the Head of Product and engineering leadership to shape the direction of vMetal.

Hands-on Validation: Run alpha and beta builds yourself, including against real bare metal hardware and network fabrics where possible. Catch integration issues before customers do.

Customer Intelligence: Engage directly with platform and network engineers at AI Cloud operators and hyperscalers running bare metal at scale, and turn what breaks in their environments into product behavior.

Market Positioning: Track the bare metal, GPU infrastructure, and data center networking ecosystem. Sharpen the narrative for technical buyers and bridge engineering, sales, and marketing so what we ship matches how we sell and support it.

This role could be a fit for you if you bring

Experience: 5+ years experience in cloud infrastructure, data center networking, bare metal, or GPU/HPC platforms. We’re open to a range of backgrounds for this role, not just traditional product management, including networking and hardware vendors.

Networking Fluency: You understand InfiniBand, VLAN, VXLAN and EVPN, and BGP, and the NVIDIA networking stack (Spectrum and Quantum switches, UFM, Cumulus Linux, NVUE), well enough to make informed product tradeoffs.

Infrastructure Fluency: You understand bare metal provisioning, out-of-band server management (Redfish, IPMI), and PXE boot well enough to make informed product tradeoffs.

Customer-Facing Infra Experience: You’ve sat across from platform engineers, network engineers, and architects, and you’re comfortable in that conversation.

Bonus points for

AI Networking Depth: Familiarity with fabrics tuned for GPU training or inference workloads, such as RoCEv2, rail-optimized topologies, or Spectrum-X.

Kubernetes-as-a-Service: Built a KaaS offering at a cloud provider, vendor, or large internal platform team.

Startup Growth: Adaptable to startup pace and change.

About vCluster Labs

We're the #1 platform for AI infrastructure, trusted by the world's fastest-growing AI cloud builders. We're a venture-backed startup that's raised over $28M from top-tier investors including Khosla Ventures (first investor in OpenAI, GitLab, Stripe, and DoorDash), and we're in a hyper-growth phase looking for motivated people to join our team. Our headquarters are in San Francisco (Salesforce Tower), but our team is distributed around the globe with a remote-first culture.

We give AI Cloud providers and AI factories a hyperscaler-like experience on their own GPU infrastructure. Our platform runs the full stack an operator needs, from bare metal provisioning and node lifecycle management up through managed Kubernetes, Slurm, Ray, and inference clusters, so they can turn raw GPUs into cluster products they can sell in days instead of spending 12+ months building it themselves. Today we power over 100,000 GPUs and 1 million CPUs across 50+ AI clouds and Fortune 500 companies, backed by a team of 40+ infrastructure engineers who build alongside our customers rather than just shipping them software.

We're the company behind vCluster, the open source technology for tenant isolation on Kubernetes, with 11,000+ GitHub stars and 40M+ tenant clusters created since 2021. Open source is part of our DNA. At KubeCon North America 2025, we launched our Infrastructure Tenancy Platform for AI, a Kubernetes-native framework built for running AI, ML, and GPU-intensive workloads anywhere, with an NVIDIA-validated reference architecture for DGX systems.
