Company Overview

STACK Infrastructure builds, owns, and operates hyperscale and colocation data centers that power the world’s most ambitious technology companies. With a rapidly expanding footprint across APAC, STACK combines deep development expertise, flexible capital, and operational discipline to deliver critical digital infrastructure at scale.

Our clients include the largest hyperscale cloud platforms. We are building a regional platform defined by speed of delivery, power reliability, and long-term partnership — and we are assembling the team to lead that effort.

The Position

The Electrical Systems Specialist – Field Engineering is a hands-on technical expert responsible for the safety, reliability, and performance of mission-critical electrical infrastructure within a live data centre environment.

The role has a strong focus on UPS systems, battery infrastructure, and critical power distribution, while also supporting HV/LV systems, transformers, switchboards, generators, protection systems, and electrical controls.

Working across operations, engineering, and risk, the specialist provides field support during incidents, leads fault investigations, reviews switching procedures, and improves the technical capability of site teams.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical and UPS System Ownership

Act as the technical specialist for UPS systems, batteries, HV/LV distribution, transformers, switchboards, generators, and associated controls.

Maintain detailed knowledge of system design, operating modes, protection settings, redundancy, and recovery strategies.

Monitor UPS loading, battery condition, autonomy, alarms, and equipment performance.

Identify capacity, reliability, lifecycle, and single-point-of-failure risks.

Ensure electrical systems operate within approved safety, protection, and reliability limits.

Field Engineering and Fault Response

Provide hands-on technical support during UPS faults, electrical outages, protection trips, nuisance alarms, and abnormal operating conditions.

Lead fault isolation, technical diagnosis, and restoration planning.

Analyse UPS event logs, relay records, alarms, and power-monitoring data.

Support switching, UPS bypass operations, load transfers, energisation, commissioning, and post-incident recovery.

Provide clear technical direction to operations teams, contractors, and equipment vendors.

Engineering Governance

Electrical switching procedures

EOPs, MOPs, and SOPs

Isolation and energisation plans

Temporary operating procedures

Risk assessments and recovery plans

Ensure procedures align with system configuration, protection coordination, discrimination, arc-flash requirements, and equipment limitations.

Improve procedures based on incidents, operational feedback, and lessons learned.

Reliability and Technical Leadership

Lead or support electrical incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis.

Provide technical input into maintenance, asset replacement, capacity planning, and system upgrades.

Review commissioning plans and witness UPS, battery, generator, and integrated systems testing.

Coach site teams on UPS operation, electrical switching, fault response, and safe systems of work.

Must-have Qualifications

Trade, diploma, or degree qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent

Extensive experience with mission-critical electrical systems (data centres, utilities, hospitals, industrial facilities, or similar)

Strong hands-on switching and fault-finding capability

Experience with protection coordination and discrimination studies

Proven experience authoring and reviewing switching procedures

Strong understanding of redundancy philosophies (N, N+1, 2N, etc.)

Desirable:

Desirable Experience

Authorised HV switching experience.

Experience in live data centre operations.
