The Opportunity

This is a senior leadership role in Netwealth's Risk, Legal & Governance function. Reporting to the Chief Risk, Legal & Governance Officer, you'll lead our regulatory affairs strategy and be the central coordination point for every regulator interaction across the group.

You'll build a centre of excellence that brings teams together, so every response is consistent, timely and accurate. That covers notices, information requests, enquiries, supervisory engagements, reportable situations and breach notifications.

You'll also oversee group litigation and contentious regulatory matters. That means shaping matter strategy, assessing exposure and options, and instructing and managing external counsel with disciplined cost oversight.

This role works through influence. You'll partner closely with the General Manager, Legal and the Deputy Chief Risk Officer, and work through existing functions rather than owning all day-to-day legal advice or compliance frameworks. Authorised decision-makers keep reportability decisions and regulatory submissions, and business owners stay accountable for remediation. Your job is to make sure the whole picture comes together.

In this role, you will:

Develop a proactive regulatory affairs strategy and engagement plan

Build constructive relationships with regulators and anticipate emerging expectations

Coordinate all regulator interactions, including notices, enquiries, reportable situations and breach notifications

Build a centre of excellence for regulatory responses, with clear tracking of obligations, deadlines and commitments

Oversee all group litigation and contentious regulatory matters, including strategy, external counsel and budgets

Escalate material matters promptly and provide clear Executive and Board reporting

Capture lessons learned and work with business owners to improve how we operate

About you

You've worked with ASIC and APRA through real matters, and you know how to coordinate a complex response across many teams and tight deadlines. You can give an Executive or Board clear, practical advice, and you balance legal judgement with commercial and customer focus. You lead through influence and bring integrity and discretion to everything you do.

You'll bring:

Substantial senior Australian financial services experience in regulatory engagement, investigations or enforcement response, alongside litigation and dispute management

Demonstrated engagement with ASIC, APRA and other regulators, including legal notices, reportable situations and breach reporting

A record of advising Executives and Boards, and delivering coordinated outcomes across multiple stakeholders

Strong judgement in shaping contentious matter strategy and negotiating within approved authority

Experience managing external counsel and legal costs

The ability to influence across business and specialist functions

Experience in wealth or investment platforms, superannuation, fintech or another regulated, high-growth, technology-led organisation will set you apart.
