About Mecka AI

Mecka AI is building the data infrastructure layer for robotics and embodied AI.

We design and operate global systems for data capture, data labeling, and hardware-enabled workflows used by leading AI labs and robotics companies to train and validate humanoid and embodied AI systems.

We work closely with frontier robotics teams to bridge real-world data, simulation, learning-based systems, and deployed hardware.

The Role

Run and record varied biology and chemistry protocols and experimental configurations. Produce scientific datasets for AI and robotics through careful bench work, clear explanations and reliable records.

MSc/PhD students and recent graduates with wet-lab and robotics/automation skills are welcome. Target start: around 1 November. Flexible scheduling; extension subject to project needs.

What you'll be doing

Run protocols: Prepare materials and instruments, follow agreed methods and work safely across a range of laboratory tasks and configurations.

Record your work: Perform procedures while filmed and explain your actions clearly. Scientific technique and safety come first.

Maintain traceability: Document methods, settings, observations, results and deviations so each run can be understood and compared.

Keep the lab ready: Manage materials, check equipment, reset workspaces and support dependable repeat runs.

Troubleshoot practically: Investigate experimental and technical problems; flag failures early and test agreed improvements.

Improve workflows: Apply your technical skills to make preparation, execution and documentation more reliable and efficient.

What you bring

Strong hands-on laboratory skills in biology, chemistry or a related experimental discipline, with sound experimental judgment and accurate records.

Strong practical robotics and automation ability: systems you have built, integrated, operated or troubleshot in research, coursework or projects.

Strong, demonstrable interest in AI, computer vision and robotics, supported by relevant work, projects or self-directed learning.

Clear communication and comfort explaining laboratory techniques while working under agreed filming arrangements.

Reliable on-site attendance in Toronto, independent problem-solving and judgment about when to stop or ask for help.

Strong Signals

Lab TA or teaching experience; lab management or operations experience spanning training, equipment, inventory or scheduling.

Python, instrument control, computer vision or scientific software; projects connecting software with physical systems or self-driving labs.

Initiative in a lab, student venture or small team, with practical product and operating judgment. Founder experience is welcome, not required.

Please note that this is a part-time role and will have a cap of 20 hours/week

If you don't check every box above but believe you can do the job, we encourage you to apply — we're looking for capability and trajectory, not a perfect checklist match.

We strive to create an inclusive work environment for all; we welcome applicants from all backgrounds and are committed to providing equal opportunities. Should you require any accommodations during the recruitment process, we will partner with you to meet your needs.

We may use AI-assisted tools to help evaluate applications against the requirements of this role. These tools support our recruiting team in identifying qualified candidates but do not replace human judgment or limit which applications may be reviewed or considered.
