Labhouse is a Barcelona-based startup studio building AI-powered mobile apps used by hundreds of thousands of people worldwide. Our products, including Invoice Fly and Summary AI, are designed to make everyday tasks faster, smarter, and simpler through a subscription model that puts the user first.

We were founded by Andrés Bou and Horacio Martos, the duo behind SocialPoint (acquired by Take-Two Interactive), and we operate with the mindset of a product company: small teams, high ownership, and a relentless focus on building things that matter.

Would you like to make an impact as part of a company that builds the best mobile apps used by millions of users worldwide? If so, discover your next challenge below.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Head of Engineering to own technology across Labhouse. This is a hands-on, full-stack engineer with a leadership mindset who can take any technical challenge in the company, whether it lives inside one of our apps or cuts across the whole business, and solve it with full ownership.

You’ll work directly with the CTO and the founders. One week you might be redesigning a core backend service, the next you might be hardening our security, rethinking how we handle user data, or shipping an AI feature into a new app. Your scope includes:

Apps: new product launches, performance, and reliability at scale.

Backend & Infrastructure: core services, cloud architecture, scalability, and cost efficiency.

Security & Data Privacy: protecting our users and the company by design.

Data: pipelines and the acquisition and performance data that drive our decisions.

AI & Automation: integrating AI models into our products and automating how we work.

No two challenges look the same here. If you thrive when the problem is new and nobody has the answer yet, you’ll likely enjoy this role.

About You

Academic background

Degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related technical field.

Technical expertise

Strong full-stack profile with real hands-on depth across frontend, backend, and infrastructure.

Proven track record of owning technical projects end to end across very different domains: product, infrastructure, security, data, AI.

Experience building and launching new products (0→1) and scaling them (1→100).

Hands-on experience designing cloud infrastructure and improving performance and reliability for systems used by large user bases.

Solid understanding of security, data privacy, and data infrastructure.

Experience integrating AI models and building automations that save real time.

Exceptional learning speed: you’ve repeatedly taken on unfamiliar technologies or domains and delivered results fast.

Today our stack includes Flutter, Dart, TypeScript, GCP, and SQL, but we don’t hire based on specific frameworks. We hire people who can learn quickly and figure things out.

Ownership and team building

You solve problems yourself first. You’re comfortable owning a challenge alone from diagnosis to delivery, and you bring in whatever resources it needs, whether that’s AI tools, external partners, or other teams.

Experience hiring engineers and building teams from scratch. You know what great looks like and can attract and assess it when a challenge needs dedicated people.

Ability to set the technical bar: architecture, standards, and practices that let us move faster without adding complexity.

You own outcomes, not tasks. When something breaks or a new challenge appears, you take it and solve it.

Comfortable operating in ambiguity, prioritising by impact, and making decisions with incomplete information.

Product-first mindset with an eye for detail and a passion for great user experiences.

Communication

Good level of spoken and written English, Spanish is a Plus

Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including design, product, and marketing.

Ability to explain complex technical decisions clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

Experience as an early engineer or tech lead in a startup that scaled fast.
