Hi, we’re Back Market.

We’re here to help make tech reliable, affordable, and better than new. We're a global marketplace for refurbished devices, helping lower our collective environmental impact by providing trustworthy, affordable tech with 92% less carbon emissions than new.

Yep, you read that right. Turns out refurbished tech is way better for the planet than new. In fact, With every device purchased on Back Market, our positive impact on the planet grows. From our Customer Care representatives to our software engineer, every individual at Back Market cuts the planet — and consumers — a break. Our mission is simple: to do more with what we already have.

Are you ready to join us?

We are looking for multiple Software Engineer Interns to join some of Back Market’s Engineering teams in the Paris office. Depending on your interests and experience, you may contribute to projects across our product, platform, data, payments, shipping, customer experience or circularity teams.

Our Engineering teams build the technology that powers Back Market, from customer-facing experiences to the internal services used by our teams and partners. You will work alongside software engineers, product managers, designers, data analysts and other stakeholders in a collaborative and international environment.

With support from experienced engineers, you will learn how we design, develop, test, deploy and monitor reliable software in a production environment.

What you will do in this role

As a Software Engineer Intern, you will learn and contribute alongside experienced engineers:

Assist with developing and improving features, with guidance from your team.

Participate in writing clean, maintainable and well-tested code.

Contribute to code reviews and technical discussions to learn from the team.

Help investigate bugs and support the resolution of technical issues.

Participate in testing, deployment and monitoring activities.

Work with product, design, data and operations teams to understand requirements.

Assist with maintaining technical documentation and sharing knowledge.

Explore different technologies and gradually build your skills across the software development lifecycle.

You will join an agile "build it and run it" environment, where teams take part in building, launching, monitoring and improving the products and services they own. Your level of responsibility will grow throughout the internship, with regular guidance and feedback from your team.

OUR TECH ENVIRONMENT 💻

The technologies you use will depend on the team you join. Our engineering environment may include:

Backend: Python, FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Celery, Golang and Django

Frontend: Vue.js, TypeScript, Nuxt and Revolve, our design system

Data and messaging: PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, RabbitMQ and BigQuery

Infrastructure and delivery: Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, Docker, Datadog, Argo CD, CircleCI and GitHub

You do not need experience with all of these technologies. We are more interested in your technical foundations, curiosity and willingness to learn.
